Key Moments

The past events that I have been to in the last month were the Wipeout Run, Burgers and Books, and RTC. The Wipe Out Run was my first event, and I was really excited because my friend and I were suppose to go but that changed last minute. Still, I chose to go and I had a lot of fun interacting with people, making new friends, and I had a job opportunity to sell tickets at a Raider’s Game. It turned out to be really beneficial!

The next event that I went to was Burgers and Books, hosted by John Ehrhardt. We helped to set up for the event by doing activities such as set up tables, make snow cones, assemble the drinks, clean up, and maintain the paint station. We had a blast! We ate a lot of food, danced, socialized, and talked about anime, I made new friends and just had a ton of fun!

The final event was Region 16 Training Conference, also known as RTC. RTC was amazing! There was an activity called "The Hunt" and it was like a scavenger hunt/objective type of game. My friends and I did the hunt, and there was this one task you could do where you "come up to a person and say ‘How do you feel?’", but instead of one person we did it in front of asked the whole lunch room. Everybody in the lunchroom yelled the chant and it was amazing! They also had workshops and I attended 3 of them. One of them was "How Not to be Awkward." It was a cool workshop; I met new people and got to know how to embrace my inner awkwardness.

The second workshop was "how to run for office". I learned a lot from that workshop like how to make a good or original essay. They also taught me many new positions that I haven't even heard about such as spirit task coordinator and a bulletin editor. I’m really curious if I would make a good spirit coordinator. The last workshop I attended was “Websites, Newsletters, and Graphic Standards” workshop and it was hosted by our own Bulletin Editor, Eseosa Omorogieva, and we learned how to follow graphic standards and make a website. What made this workshop really exciting was the candy thrown I left early and I missed the spirit battles, but overall it was a fun experience and I will not forget it for a long time.
